Would you buy a £17,000 bike?
So I'm just finishing reading a test on the new Panigali 1299S in Bike Sport News and low and behold there is an advert selling the 1299 (not the S) on PCP deal for £179 a month! Need over four grand deposit (sell van, sell Blackbird) and of course there is the final repayment (trade for new model) but that has to be very tempting nest pah?

PCP yes, deposit £5k, lots options to trade current bikes but really want to keep ZX (track bike?), Dorso probably going in against it. been offered two others on even better deals.
Shhh don't tell Tracey though.

2012 Panigale S for £78-£109 per month dependent on deposit (£5k or £4k).
Problem with Panigale S is it has electronic suspension which attracts but scares me with no warranty.
New 1299 would be good bet with 2 year warranty.

Love the bike but just don't see the pcp system been right for a bike, don't know why, its just the nowt to show in 3years unless you put more cash in, I wouldn't to be honest bob, its a lot of bike ti have sat doing nowt a lot of the time, how many miles did you do on the zx last year pal, but its your choice can so see why you would want to get one xx hope that don't help much.
Re: Would you buy a £17,000 bike?
Aarrggh. These fuckin phones, just typed out 20- odd word reply but deleted before sending.
Jacko mate, heart ruling head with this bike, how often would I get chance to own one of these, like the RS, never thought I would get the chance. For the three years I owned the RS I paid more than most peoples mortgages each month but...what a car! Feel the same way with this bike.
But then again it is a lot of money.
As for mileage, wouldn't be buying it to tour Europe, definite fine weather bike but wouldn't even dare take it on track.

Re: Would you buy a £17,000 bike?
Yeah like I said totally see why you would want one I get that, but if it was my money I think it would be a bit of a waste if money, lovley bike agreed and its sex in two wheels, but Imo for what it would cost to have for 3 years it just int worth it, especially in our country and with your commitments would you use it much....as said I probly shouldn't have spent on the zx but I have cos its my choice
Re: Would you buy a £17,000 bike?
If i had no commitments (family etc) and i could afford it then i would have one in my garage in no time.

Re: Would you buy a £17,000 bike?
If and that's if I get the Panigale it will either be going in the living room or the shed will be getting a carpet and heating in it!
I have no major commitments, no kids, we can't go on holiday, I just look after the wife before she croaks it!
Most of riding last year was short (but fast) trips usually on my own cos I couldn't commit to full day ride outs so more of the same will probably happen again this year.
So Duke would fit into to this pattern, plus plenty of posing of course.
Maybe it'll happen maybe it won't but either way I'll still kick Jackos arse on my ancient ZX!

Blah blah fooking blah, you sound like Boothy, its not all about speed but more about having fun....
Re: Would you buy a £17,000 bike?
Speed is fun, don't you get a thrill approaching a corner not sure if you'll get through it or end up in the next field?

Re: Would you buy a £17,000 bike?
Back on the original subject, Wifey didn't seem to flinch when we started talking about the possible purchase of a stupidly expensive bike did she? And the fact she appears to have no emotional attachment to either the Blackbird or Dorso helps the old part exchange situation as well.
Looking good....

Your face was a picture when I said Tracey mentioned you was looking at a Ducati.....would you have to build a ramp to get it in the room...
Re: Would you buy a £17,000 bike?

Jacko, did she really say that or are you just taking the piss.
Ramp in the van would probaky get it in the room or more likely will be covered in cashmere overcoat in the shed with half naked nubiles caressing it at short intervals.
:-)
