Tyres, Tyres, Tyres Empty Tyres, Tyres, Tyres

Post by Robby Wed Mar 05, 2014 4:57 am

ok so got friday and next monday booked off work so with a long weekend i was planning on having the first ride of my new to me bike which has been sat waiting since december.
First ride out is to get a pair of tyres fitted as the rear is as square as a square thing so Michelin Pilot Road 3s or 4s are to be fitted.
I was set to go to bike tyres in leeds as they have them on their website at £222 + fitting and they have a voucher on their home page saying £25 off a pair - this voucher has expired and fitted to the bike their £248  Shocked  - last ones i bought last year (previous bike) were £200 fully fitted.

Can anyone recommend somewhere localish to Hudds, Wakefield, Halifax, etc

Cheers

Give them a call and see what price they can give you over the phone as they will try get best deal possible for you. I'm in middle of trying to decide what to get and might have a run up with mine this sat to get some new boots fitted. I dunno what to choose either!!

I fitted Pilot road 2s to the street tripple R last year and they were great - the 3s are supposed to be better still and great in wet - the 4s are supposed to be improved further.

I've emailed BLD in Brighouse for a price as they are supposed to be cheap at £181 a pair of Road 3s + fitting - http://www.bldgroup.co.uk/service-repairs/motorbike-tyres/

Biketyres said their price included some discount which is still £12.65 more than BLDs online prices fitted

Don't forget Jordan Bikes at Gildersome, give them a bell.

Do you not fancy something a little sportier than Pilot Roads, your CBR/RR is different beast to the Street Triple.

Pilot Power if Michelin, Pirelli Rosso Corsas or Dunlop Sportsmarts??

ZX10R needs new tyres, I will probably go for 2CTs or maybe if I really want to be daft Power Ones (used to use these on the race bike).

 Sad

I have got 2cts on the gixer at the min and love them couldn't fault them. I'm tempted to try the power 3s this year as they meant to be better than the 2cts

I've emailed Jordans so hope for a price from them tommorow

I'm not really clued up on bike tyres but have heard good things about the pilot roads - want something that will last 5k, give good grip when i try to get the knee down but will wear evenly in the centre when i can't  Embarassed
Are the 2CTs as good on the road as pilots or more of a track tyre? how many miles did you get out of yours?

I've done about 3500 on them and they got a tiny bit of life left. There were used on track on hottest day of year I think it might of been hottest weather earth has ever experienced that day... Or it felt like it. So will of lost a bit of rubber on the Tarmac that day. Should be able to get 4-5 out on just road riding

read the reviews of the ones you are thinking of and then decide, but i wouldnt worry so much most are all great these days, i wouldnt have a pair of tyres that will only cover 3500 miles, dont forget sport touring tyres are very good all rounders.....

3500 is a year tho (roughly) as dont use it for work anymore so i dont mind if i have to buy a new set each year its just like a service cost which i expect each year

Called at BLD in Brighouse today and had the PR3s fitted at £235.25
Was the 1st ride on the bike since i had it delivered in December, little rough at 4-7k but might be down to the fuel that's been sat or maybe it just needs a proper blast? felt quick but tiny compared to the STR

roll on the nice weather now so i can have a play
