New Helmet Empty New Helmet

Post by Robby Wed Jan 21, 2015 9:19 am

ok i'm looking for a new helmet as i'm bored with my last 1
I currently have:
HJC with mirror visor
HJC with flip down inner visor thingy
Arai which has chips and is getting old

i was looking at Shoei but not sure if i want to spend £250+ on a hat when for 1/2 that i can get something else thats works the same.
I've see some Shark and AGV for around £120 and believe the must have feature is pinlock? i'm guessing this is the 2 "tabs" to attach a fog city type thingy to inside the visor?
The Shark has the drop down dark visor so wouldn't need pinlock

Has anyone got either of these makes and can comment on noise/ comfort/ etc as you can't test ride them and only find out they're noisy when you've bought 1

Shark

the problem with lids is the fit and comfort is all down to the shape of your head not the helmet itself, so whats comfy for me might not be so good on you, cos im very brainy and they try to escape at any weakness in my skull so therefor my head is quite lumpy and bumpy, you wont have the same problem i do, in fact the opposite where your head is empty the skull will be getting sucked inwards by the vacuum of emptiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiness in there.....
just go to j and s try some on and then check online to see what the best price is and ask em to match if not order online hey presto job done...
next problem please  Sad

I use Sharks but older RSi model which fits me like a glove, Speed R and S700 have flip down visor I believe. Pin lock is for anti visor mist rather than sun shade.

My next helmet will be Shark Racer R which doesn't have pin lock. Loss Scott Redding rep.

The large sausage fingered one is right. I would recommend Shark but might not fit you. My old Arai Corsair was my favourite till I started wearing Sharks. They have a larger than normal appature and a 3mm thick visor compared to normal 2mm on most others. But it is up to what fits you. Safety the first aspect of any helmet choice.

I only need a helmet to keep my hair from blowing in the wind - grey hair is more prone to this Laughing - the downside of a full face helmet is my good looks are hidden ....................

I know you boys wouldn't buy one .  But my missus bought me an L s 2 flip up front thingy last year ,not brilliant ,but on the upside it's brilliant  bright colour ( sort of florecent yellow)
Means that people pull over when they see me in their rear view mirrors, what with having a kenny Roberts  xjr (yellow/ black).  Apparently they they think I'm a paramedic  or the old bill ,until its to late. And the other thing iis you  flip it up to ask directions. Always getting lost me.Sad

I like the look of these but not sure about the wind noise from the front? bet it's awkward lifting the goggles with gloves on unlike a visor on a "normal" helmet?
