What model fazer do you have? any common problems to look for?

I've got the gen 1version, brilliant bike and great all rounder, ride it sedately, ride it quick, it'll do it all!
A little bit long in the tooth now, but better than the fz1 and miles better the fz8! Things to look out for is mainly suspension being too soft, easily rectified. Not much else stands out as far as I'm aware. Worth looking at for a later one upto 2005. Hope this helps, I'll no doubt get a load of grief for saying this ;-)

so is yours the 1000?
I thought the newer ones were better? i have read about the suspension but the reviews say these are better than the GSR750 which uses the 2005 gixxer engine?

Yeah mines the thou, tho to be honest, the 600s aren't exactly slow, but the thou is the one to have! The newer ones are better, because they are newer, but a lot of folk prefer the generation 1. For more/better info on the fzs1000(mine), fz1, fz8 and the 600 try www.fazerowners club (unofficial).co.uk or .com (can't remember the correct address, but google it and it will come up)

Re: What did you do to your bike today??
ok - went to jordans today and sat on the GSR750 they have and decided on that now
They have a 2012 with 2k up at £4995 which they wont discount but just looked on ebay and preston superbikes have brand new pre reg ones at £5695 - so 2 years manuf warranty, 12 months breakdown and low apr finance.
So ideally jordans will need to drop their bike to £4695 to make it worthwile - does this sound reasonable?

See if you can have a test ride on one to see what you think of them. If you can't at Jordan's or Preston super bike try a Suzuki dealer for a test ride.

Re: What did you do to your bike today??
well prestons are 14 plates pre reg, robinsons at rochdale have 13 plate pre reg at £5795 and ritebike in bradistan have a 12 plate with abs (for sissies) with 800 miles at £4890 - abs must be worth £200 - £300 extra so jordans should be willing to do a discount?

Re: What did you do to your bike today??
If you do buy from Jordans mention my name, it won't get you any discount but I get a referral fee. Ha ha, only joking, maybe.
Rob what is is you want from a naked, FZ8 and GSR750 are nice looking bikes but not cutting edge when it comes to performance.
For me a naked, especially as my only bike would have to be the maddest, hardest, snarling beast to be worth riding a naked, something WILL show sports ikes up. But that's me. As for naked having to be a thou, bollocks. Get any of the above on a Streetfighter 848 and they'll shit themselves.
I've bought 2 bikes from Jordans, I know I got a good deal but they aint always the cheapest but they don't take shit bikes in and you get a 6 month warranty. I doubt they'll discount though.

Or you could get a Street Triple ha ha.
You definitely don't want an old Fazer thou, you'll be smoking apipe and wearing slippers before you can say Givi luggage!

Yeah and it'll still keep up with all the sportsbikes whilst wearing those slippers, smoking that pipe and with all the givi luggage you can get! There's only ever been one sports bike gone past me and that was ridden by a loon!

Re: What did you do to your bike today??
Oh and Robby, if you do go for the gsr, don't rule out abs, it may just save your life one day! Having said that, I'd go with the tuono if there's one available

Your words mate, you said its not worth getting a naked unless its a 1000. This is from the man who couldn't keep up with a 82bhp V Twin at Teeside last year!
